According to Kralle, in a post on the GR official forum, the band is almost finished with the new album, but it might be a while before it is released, owing to SPV's insolvency.
It's good to know things are going well though, and that they've done well with the new album, which they are still hoping will be released soon.

This was posted on the GR forum today and is legitimate, as confirmed by board moderator Kralle. :)"yes-we-can-2",-gamma-ray-supports--t1078.html#p16158

SPV update

This is an update from August 17 regarding the future of SPV, Gamma Ray's label.

The interim board of creditors of the Hannover, Germany-based record company SPV (Schallplatten Produktion und Vertrieb GmbH) in insolvency, have assigned insolvency administrator, attorney Manuel Sack, to go into final negotiations about future cooperation with Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH.

On July 31, 2009, the local court in Hannover, Germany had ruled for administration of insolvency of SPV Schallplatten Produktion und Vertrieb GmbH.

Founded in 1983, the company had developed to one of the biggest independent music distributors worldwide. The insolvency of one of the SPV shareholders, followed by a compensation of millions of euros in 2007, parallel to a serious narrow market had forced founder and managing director Manfred Schütz, to file for insolvency at the local court Hannover at the end of May 2009.

Together with the credit institutions being involved, the insolvency administrator has managed to sustain the daily business in all areas of operation and is now able to ensure to all business partners a long lasting solution for SPV's future business.

After a multistage bidding procedure, the insolvency administrator has presented four binding offers to the board of creditors, all coming from well-known investors from the music and entertainment business.

Focusing on the concept presented by Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH, the creditors are hoping to establish a forward-looking and substantial structure that guarantees a safe and effective satisfaction for all creditors involved.

The new partner also vows to keep various headcounts within an ongoing operating company SPV Schallplatten Produktion und Vertrieb GmbH, though in an obviously restructured setup.

All parties involved are looking forward to speed up in finalizing their ongoing negotiations and to announce more details by the end of next week.

Ok I've slacked a little bit in the last week, but here are the remaining good quality videos that have surfaced from Wacken 2009. I haven't seen ANYTHING about the supposed press conference they were supposed to do on that Saturday, so who knows? Perhaps news is just slow coming out from the journalists who were there, or they weren't ready to put out information yet.

Either way, enjoy the footage of the guys doing what they do best and having a great time!!! :D

New World Order

Heavy Metal Universe

Rebellion in Dreamland

To The Metal

Most of these Wacken 09 videos have been posted by the user Orric1, and I really appreciate it! Here's a link to his channel on Youtube:

He has a lot of other great videos from other bands at Wacken as well as various concerts and video clips.

Thanks a bunch man!!

Thanks to sfff from the Gamma Ray message board, here's a great video with bits from a few songs :D

Some really awesome footage, albeit a few arms are in there, of Hail to the Metal, or Metal, or The Metal... I'm still not sure what the actual official title is, but yeah. It's here, so watch, and like it, whether you like it or not, because I said so... I think I'm channeling Nicko McBrain... eek!

Aaaand also, here are some pics, found by rdyfrde over at the Gamma Ray board, hopefully this link will work:

If you click on Wacken Open Air Day 2, the second link, and go to page 3 and 4, there are Gamma Ray pics... there's no way to link to them or download them, albeit print screen is calling my name. Heh. Not like I'd sell them because well, I wouldn't... and really, they're going to look like ALL the other pics of Gamma Ray from Wacken from a professional photographer's point of view, unless someone photoshops random stuff in... People get really huffy... it's like hey, you have a watermark, stop whining. *yawn*

Did I mention that I've had a lot of Mt. Dew and metal tonight? Because yes, yes, I have... oh yes, and Dr. Pepper and vodka. And it's going to storm. And I'm going slightly mad, even though this isn't a Queen blog, I think it's appropriate.

Anywho, NOW I will go to bed... bedbedbedbedbedbed!!! :D

Posted on Blabbermouth today:

Norway's GAIA EPICUS, Germany's KICKHUNTER (featuring HELLOWEEN bassist Markus Großkopf), Slovakia's SIGNUM REGIS (featuring former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN/GLORY singer Göran Edman) are among the bands who will appear on the forthcoming tribute album to HELLOWEEN and GAMMA RAY, "HelloRay - A Tribute To Helloween & Gamma Ray", tentatively due in late 2009 or early 2010 via Epicus Records.

According to a press release, this is a project made by bands who are fans and has been inspired by the music of these two great pioneers of melodic power metal. It will contain songs that were originally written and recorded between 1985 and 2007.

I found a few finally, they look great :)

There aren't many but here is the photo stream on Flickr that they originate from.

Brought to you by fans at Wacken 09 with cell phones, who like to sing along... a lot

Still waiting to hear how the press conference went... I hope someone wakes up long enough from their post-party hangover to put up something on SOME metal news site... any one, I don't care, I just wanna knowwwwwwww about the future!!!! hehe :D

Well I finally found a pic on the official website. I had to do some digging but it's a really nice shot :)

ironlamia: (contemplative)
You would think there would be a FEW more pics from that festival, and I've found a lot, just not of Gamma Ray, sheeesh.

Anyway, I found two in my quest for Wacken pics, courtesy of Flickr.

But I found a site that still has the clip of Blood Religion online! I seriously haven't seen this anywhere for about a year and I loved it, so I'm posting a link up here so whomever feels like it can watch :D

Eventually, some new stuff should be up. The press conference should be happening any time now, and hopefully by the time I get home tonight we will know what the next year holds for the Rayz.

ironlamia: (pointy)
Well, today is the day. Gamma Ray's set apparently starts at 14:15 German time, which is give or take about now. Hopefully some videos will be up on Youtube before too long.

I'm not going to be able to stream it, which is a bummer, but hopefully the set will go well.

Here's One With the World from 2003 :)

ironlamia: (obnoxious)

This is another angle of the first performance of 'The Metal' at Karmøygeddon 2009
ironlamia: (contemplative)
Ok, I don't normally actually sit through slideshows posted on Youtube because they seem to take 900 years, but I really liked this one that I found accidentally :)

It has some really great pics and the person who made it focused on ALL the band members, which is really fantastic :)

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it!
ironlamia: (pointy)
Wow, I bumped into this totally by accident, and it's cool :)
